Mrs. Lavonia LeCounte is the founder of Project Reach G.A.N.G., Inc. (God's Anointed Now Generation) Project Reach G.A.N.G. Inc was organized on July 1, 1998 at the Briar Bay Park in Riceboro, GA to bring a change in our today's youth. The scripture base for this group is found in Nehemiah 4:14, "And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not afraid of them remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses." so the cry went out to the Churches, Community Leaders, Businesses, Civic Leaders, and Parents. There was a great need to get the community youth off the corners and to motivate them for the upcoming school year. There was also a need to inform the parents of the various resources available for them to help improve their children's GPA and to help them reach their goals. As a result, the corners became clear, the gang signs disappeared, many of the children in the community joined G.A.N.G. and many have since graduated to pursue a promising career. Project Reach G.A.N.G. is a non-profit organization, which is making a difference in our communities and schools.
The groups meets every Monday night; at Riceboro Church of God. The sessions consists of tutoring, mentoring, career training, life skill development, vocal training, leadership training and much more. The first Back to School Rally was held August 1, 1998. The rally is a free event that is held annually and it offers information to anyone that attends. It consists of free educational booths, health checks, community speakers, school supplies games, rides, entertainment and so much more.
